New Book Considers Sexuality and Communication
Valerie Peterson announces the publication of Sex, Ethics, and Communication (Cognella Academic Publishing, 2011). The book is a candid, humane, and accessible consideration of sexuality and sex-relevant communication. It draws from philosophy, semiotics, linguistics, biology, and the writings of public intellectuals, and is designed to encourage discussion of the ethics of sex and the relationship of sex to communication. It would enrich courses in gender communication, interpersonal communication, family communication, health communication, and sexuality studies. The book is especially relevant to young adult readers who want to have “good sex,” in other words, people who care about the well being of themselves and other people, and who want to consider the ethics of sex and sex-related communication. More information about the book (including a free preview of the first twenty pages) is available at: http://www.cognella.com/titles/Sex-Ethics-and-Communication/
There is also a review of Peterson’s book in the Fall 2011 issue of Women & Language
